December the 2nd and this morning our outside thermometer was reading minus 0.5c and it felt much colder but much more like the seasonal climate we expect for the start of the winter. It was also our first frost and only a light covering so by 9.0am it was nearly all gone as the early morning sun was surprisingly warm. Whatever, it is a sign of things to come just count our blessings that we have had such a warm autumn. As for migrating birds, the only real flocks I have seen so far, are much larger than usual flocks of Wood Pigeons. I suppose many more birds and wildfowl are just waiting for the winds to change direction and blow from the North.
