So the topic is unusual ‘Points of View’….well that can provide some strange images that has the viewer wondering “What is It?”. Well I suppose this image is one of those puzzles…..
With no clue to actual scale this has had many folk puzzling. Well the clue is that it is at Helsinki, the capital of Finland, and is located in Finlandia Park and is part of a sculptural memorial to Finland’s greatest composer Jan Sibelius….
A sculpture of Sibelius himself overlooks this distinctive memorial, itself very individual in its execution and use of the rock on which Helsinki is built.
As to the main piece of sculpture, well here it is from the more conventional viewpoint……
As to be expected from such a contemporary interpretation it has created mixed responses from Helsinki’s residents. What is it? Well some suggest organ pipes from some great organ, others that it represents the trunks of Pine Trees for which Finland is also famous, whilst others suggest that it is more like the bouncing musical cords we are familiar with on music players and synthesisers….your guess is as good as anyone’s.
