At Culzean Castle on the Ayrshire Coast, Scotland there is a part of this ancient Castle, that became and will remain a little piece of American history for ever.
The Apartments on the top floor of Culzean Castle were given to General Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1945 in recognition of his role as Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces in the Second World War. The gift was made by the Castles original owners, the Kennedy Family, descendants of Robert the Bruce. This gift was as part of the agreement to donate the Castle and Estate to the National Trust for Scotland.
