The last day of May and what a roller coaster of a month it has been for our flora. It started into growth so much earlier than is usual, then with temperatures dropping it slowed right down…..and in the last week it has just exploded into an abundance of growth. The Lilly pond now sports its first flowers with lots more buds just under the surface ready to push through. But May is leaving us on a rather dull day yet in this dark corner of the gardens one last Azalea is doing its best to bring a touch of sunshine…..positively glowing in its reds and oranges.
Tomorrow is the 1st of June and I guess we can then say that summer is about to start. Spring blooms giving way to meadow and hedgerow flowers and our gardens filling out with the those summer colours that will see us all the way to autumn. Yep…lots of sunshine to come (we hope).
