We have had more than our fare share of rain over the past few days. Whilst plants in our garden do need rain the shear quantity has rather left them feeling more than a trifle bashed about. Cranesbill (which is part of the Geranium family) is a prolific plant in many gardens including ours. It is so vigorous that many gardeners discourage it and many consider it no better than a weed. Vigorous it may be, but its flower heads are also very delicate…translucent and fragile, easily damaged by rain and insects. Delicate shades of blue with red stamens are to me a delight. Like many other flowers the colourful heads have taken there share of a beating, but unlike many as soon as they drop….. out pops a new one. Perhaps that is why it is a favourite in our garden providing a shimmering bush of colour for many weeks.
