Stanton Moor, December 29th
After what has seemed endless weeks of rain, wind, grey days with just the occasional bright spell, today was a revelation…wall to wall blue sky and a sun that would do any day proud…..and for late December a real bonus.
By this time in December most years these moors at Stanton would either have been covered with frost or snow. Not this year…true the greens of the grass have faded somewhat and the bracken has fallen back but the Silver Birch can still be relied upon for some winter colours. Whilst the day looked cold and despite a continual South Westerly wind the day actually felt warmer than some of summers days on the moor.
Walking through the old heather beds across a sunny moor is not a bad way to spend a December day.
