Smile….the Sun has Popped Out!

Beech

After several days of dark, damp and miserable weather, it is a real uplift for the spirits of the inner man, when the sun breaks through. It may well have only lasted for an hour but no less welcome for that. The rains and wind have stripped many trees, leaves gone before they can show off any mass display of autumn colour.

Others like the Beech tree below have leaves that have faded to a dull yellow a poor offering to their normal rich brown pigment…..

The Oak still hangs on to its leaves, but again a concern as normally it retrains its winter brown leaves until early spring when the new buds burst and push the old leaf away, its job of protecting the buds completed.
