April 16th and at last the Daffodils are starting to burst onto the scene. It is true that many gardens and Civic plantings have been in flower for a week or so, but they are in sheltered and much warmer spots. Here in the woods life is only just starting to appear. Looking back to this time last year the Daffs were over and I was shooting Bluebells. So we have that pleasure yet to come…meantime lets enjoy the Daffodils now that they are here……
There is little comfort elsewhere in the woods with trees still bare and no shoots apparently no where near ready to burst into leaf……
Everywhere can be seen evidence of this harsh winter we have ‘enjoyed. But as the sun rose we did get a warm glow across Yew Tree Walk………
But for real spring colour I guess for awhile yet we will still need to rely on our cultivated indoor bowl of spring…….
The Glove Saga….continues
Followers of the blog will know that over the winter I have been stumbling across lost gloves. You will recollect that all are LEFT handed gloves…. EXCEPT for children’s gloves and mitts which have always proved to be RIGHT handed. So the mystery continues, why only left –adult, right – children and why no pairs.
Today we find yet another glove, it is a childs and yes its right again!
But we also found another ‘treasure’ in the woods.
A Trumpet…may be it needed the right glove to be removed to be able to tut a tune!
I do hope they find there way back to the rightful owners.

You must have a large collection of gloves!
Glad spring is showing signs your way.
Our daffodils are close to blooming, but we’ve had snow the last two days and cold weather. Spring is still postponed here.

Had a solid dozen of ‘migrating birds’ here this morning. That should count for something?
Th freezing cold weather with bright sun has been replaced by fog, drizzle and plus 8 degrees. And it’s not the global warm-up ! Spring is here! 😀

The adults must take off their left glove in order to hold the hand of their child’s right hand…but why would they take off their glove to hold hands?

We keep on saying it has got to come….Spring that is, but at times you do wonder. No bird sounds from the woods this morning.

I do so hope that you’re right and that your optimism is rewarded. We, on the other hand, are predicted to get up to an inch of snow tomorrow morning, followed by rain. One might hope for more “pleasant” conditions, but the environment here can well use all of the precipitation it can get, in whatever form it may come. Still, one can’t help but hope that it will eventually all relax and become real spring here…
