Is this really autumn? I ask the question as this morning still looks more like summer, may be even spring, than autumn…….
Early morning golfers were enjoying another bright, dry start to the day….Nor am I complaining, though I do admit to missing those massed colours of the fall and that magical woodland smell that goes with it.
You can of course seek out ‘hot spots’ of autumn colour. here the bracken is a mix of bright green and the autumnal brown and gold all glistening in this woodland glade…..
Beech scatter the odd golden gem that says it really should be autumn…..

I reckon we will miss the full autumn colours and go straight to winter

I hope not – that´s a real cheat when that happens!

clearly we are in different parts of the country David – as the talk here is of winter – the temperature has finally dropped off in to single figures and low one at that – on the Airfield we have commenced our Snow and Ice Plan a clear indication of what is to come.

For a relatively ‘small’ group of islands we do seem to enjoy different climates (at different times). Last year I seem to recall you had a great summer on the Moray whilst we just sat for months under cloud and rain. This year we seemed to fair much better. As to winter I suspect that we are in for a bad one with the benefit that t more likely to be a short one (well that is what I am told by my reliable ‘countryman’ who keeps me seasonally up to date!)
