By all accounts it has been a fruitful year, bumper crops of Apples and Pears for the farmers and lots of wild berries for the birds to feast upon this winter. One of the last to fruit is the Cornus but its Pearly White berries are just starting to form as the leaves start to turn……
Traditionally Horse Chestnut Trees have always been a symbol of the English autumn with their golden fan shaped leaves. But most are still putting on a healthy display of bright green……
Finally as we head towards the middle of November some Chestnuts are starting to show their true autumn colours….
I just hope that the longer the late summer and autumn continues on its un-seasonal journey, that ultimately we will have a shorter winter. Just think only 46 days to go and then its Christmas. (Check out the Christmas Clock: http://www.xmasclock.com/)
