Lest We Forget………..…Remembrance Sunday

SUNDAY 10th NOVEMBER 2013

REMB-3

Today, here in the U.K. and in many other places across the world we pause at 11.o’clock to remember those who have lost their lives or suffered greatly as a result of conflict whilst serving their country.  Of course it is not just the military but those in civil support and their families that have given and lost so much.

Here in the U.K., in addition to all the major towns and cities just about every community has there own War Memorial…..poignant permanent reminders of just how wide the trauma of war can spread. Remembrance Services will have been held, poppies and wreaths laid and prayers said, an opportunity for all across the country to express their respects….

It is perhaps in the shadow of churches such as St.Edmunds in Allestree, where one realises that even the smallest hamlet, village or community, whilst miles away from the centre of conflict still suffered the terrible consequences of these events. Certainly peaceful today but perhaps only because of the sacrifice of those before us…….

Tomorrow is Armistice Day, and we need to pause and reflect once more at 11oclock on the 11th Day of November…….
