For the past few days it has poured down with rain….some might say torrential, other might say it is “just the weather for Ducks” and they would be right! But despite the rains there have been the occasional spells of bright sunshine, just right for this pair of Mallards to preen and beautify themselves.
Mallards might be your common or garden Duck but they are none the less beautiful for that. The Drake is keeping a very close watch over this pretty girl…..
Mind you he is also capable of making something of a splash of his own……

I so love ducks… But even quackers do have an itch from time to time… 😀 Where I love now, there are no ducks, but I used to live in Rotterdam with a kind-a streched out pond (canal like) that is full of them. They do wake you up in the middle of the night with their quacking. 🙂

It’s QUACKERJACK!!
I love these photos. My duck photos didn’t come out so well this time. Only the Moorhen. Mallards are my favourites though. I know they are the most common, but they are always smiling. And the fox mask they wear is always good for a giggle 🙂

Great captures! I love mallards, we have them year-round, they photograph so pretty. Love how the water photographed in the last photo too. And we all gotta scratch an itch sometime!
