At last…the Snowdrops.
In truth they have been in flower for a few weeks now. But unlike normal seasons when in the spring they carpet areas of woodland with their white bells a top of those fresh spring green leaves, this year has been very different. Well in in our part of the U.K.it most certainly has been a different start to spring.
Places where I would normally go to bring you a feast of snowdrops seem either bare or else they are ‘blind’, green with now flowers.
It has been a sunny winter and early spring but bitterly cold. Nor have we had the coverings of snow that lock in the heat and protect the bulbs. At last we are starting to get larger displays of Snowdrops, much later than is usual for us, but not the masses we so much love.
Still, best not to sound as if we are complaining, but to enjoy what we have…..and maybe the best is yet to come.

Sunny start here…but snow forecast. At least it cannot last for long. 2.5C

Even with a pretty harsh wind and sometime galeforce, it was clear and beautiful yesterday. Behind the window, indoors, with a book and the Moonshine (Mondschein) sonate from Beethoven and a cup of tea, it was very enjoyable. Today more clouds and promise of rain, sleat and hail. No matter. Crocusses, daffs and snowdrops show their flowers everywhere. Spring is coming and Winter is going… I am certain. 😀

It will arrive, probably with a dramatic rush…..but only when it is ready 😊

Good for you, David. I’m very curious to see what our spring will bring and how it will compare to recent ones, too.

Last spring did not follow that trusted pattern and so far this Spring is doing it in yet a different style…we wait and see (-:
