   1. Yep..it is a grand old house to explore and the gardens just add to the splendour of a visit. I don’t think we will ever build estates like this ever again.

   1. Even with all our Kids and Grand Kids plus hangers on round for Christmas I guess we would still rattle around in the house….mind you it would be great for hide and seek!

5. Avid admirer of DownTon Abbey, I could see the changes from more feudalistic to more equality of the people and I think that is a good thing. However, the treasures of such places must be kept in good order. I am also a fan of the National Trust. 🙂

   1. Estates like Chatsworth, still in family hands, do provide a great benefit to the economy , employment and the local community, farming in particular would be much worse off.
