The Sir Nigel Gresley
on The North Yorkshire Moors Heritage Railway
At Goathland high on the Yorkshire Moors you can step back in time to the age of Steam Railways.

Your journey begins at the Station, itself restored and beautifully maintained. Once it was a very busy hub for a community that stretched across the moors…Mail, Milk, People and freight of all kinds not to mention farm animals came and went from Goathland by train.

Today your only decision is to decide WHICH WAY you want to go. Up the line to the historic Fishing Port of Whitby or down the line to the Market Town of Pickering.
WHICH ever WAY you choose you are guaranteed great views over the expansive North Yorkshire Moors….so as we say “Relax and let the Train take the Strain”
My submission for this weeks WHICH WAY Photo Challenge.

It’s getting that good day…and it’s a long way for me to travel to Pickering…which is why I keep putting it off!!

I know what you mean… as you probably already know it is an area of coast and moor that holds much of interest and a few days based in the area is probably required to do it real justice. But the journey from Pickering north to Whitby has the added bonus of being able to explore the Harbour and maybe the Abbey on the hill.

Well, I have always told myself I would return to Whitby….probably 30plus years since I was last there

While rain and sleat are coming down here and it is getting noticible colder I find these photos reassuring that spring will come and so will summer. This ride is duly noted on my bucket list. 🙂
