Perhaps, when one looks at the ‘prison like’ buildings, that for generations were the beating heart of the industrial revolution, you can understand just why many who worked within these walls, referred to then a ‘Dark Satanic’ Mills.
Built across the late 1700’s and 1800’s. With perhaps there peak production across the 1800s … and for some thru the mid 1900’s. Many are now lost to redevelopment…. but some have had new life breathed into their structures. The one above is now a mixed Office Complex for an assortment of Companies, Studios and Gyms. … and even a Wedding Venue.
Perhaps no longer a dreaded place of toil….. but on a dull day it can still retain a dark and mysterious ambience.
Wherever you are, at home or at work…..

A wedding venue, huh? I’d like to see the inside of that building for that.

It has really had a great makeover and rather grand…plus some great landscaped gardens with river views…. it is rather surprising. This is only part of a bigger complex of similar buildings and after years of decay have been rescued by innovate new owners. Makes one realise that perhaps we have destroyed to many old buildings when ingenuity can work miracles inside…Best recycling scheme.

I’m glad to say the same is taking place here in the USA. A very architecturally interesting train station in our nearby city has been turned into luxury apartments and the grand concourse is used as a wedding and other grand events venue. https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/pennsylvania/pittsburgh/union-station-pgh/
