Finishing where we began….

CAERNARFON-CASTLE-6-www

Caernarfon Castle, North Wales

We started the working week with a North Wales image, so I thought we would complete the working week with another.

North Wales is noted for two special features; its Mountains and its Castles.

Caernarfon Castle is one of the oldest, and perhaps the most important, of its many Castles.  There has been a fortification here since Roman times. Like many such castles they have undergone change over the centuries.  But it is perhaps best to credit Caernarfon Castle to 1285 when the castle and the defensive walls that surround the town all became one.

Located at the southern entrance to the Menai Straits on the banks of Afon Seiont, in the county of Gwynedd, North Wales…. a rather grand location.

I hope you have had a good week…. enjoy your weekend…. and….

  1. Of all the Welsh castles, that is probably my least favourite. Give me Cilgerran for its location, Rhuddlan, Dolwydellan, Dolbadarn for remote location and backdrop of Snowdon and Dinorwig Quarry. I could go on!

    1. and no mention of Conway? Caernarfon may not be remote, still has the backdrop of the mountains and with the harbour still a grand location. Didn’t say it was my favourite., but well up the list 🙂
