A memory, from this time a few years ago, as autumn started to show its colours. A pleasant time to be on the cut (cut the old word for the canals that were cut by hard hand labour)

And extra tricky as just beyond the bridge is the entry lock gates, for a lock to allow boats to reach the canal at a higher level. When the canals were ‘cut’, they followed the contour lines of the land, so needed locks to allow the need for the canal to from one level to another.
