60 Years Ago…
On the 4th September 1964, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II opened this iconic Road Bridge crossing the Firth of Forth.
Valentines of Dundee produced this Postcard to celebrate and commemorate the opening of the major road link for Scotland. I managed to secure this image about a week before the opening and the factory rushed through production to make it available from the 4th September. We take speed for granted these days, everything instant, but 60 years ago it was an achievement.
