H.R.H Princess Elizabeth
An interesting find this week, whilst still sorting through old family documents and photos…. this one rather stood out.
It is a Raphael Tuck Postcard, from their Royal Portrait Collection. The Portrait is credited to Photographer Marcus Adams, a wonderful, cheerful portrait, full of character of the then Princess Elizabeth…. who as we know later became Queen Elizabeth.
There is a message on the reverse, on which the sender had penned the date, 28.12.28.
It is also interesting that this postcard was what was described as a ” Real Photograph”. Indeed it is a not an ink on paper print, but produced on real glossy photographic paper, very much a credit to the production skills of Raphael Tuck that the images survives so well.
Tucks were also very proud of being holders of the Royal Warrant, an honour bestowed on the Company by Queen Victoria and held cautiously, and I know still held the Royal Warrant in the 1980’s
It may only be a piece of Photographic paper, measuring 5.5 x 3.5 inches, but treasure in my eyes and a great discovery.
Cherish your treasured moments and always…

Apart from the fact that it such a good portrait of a future Queen, it just bounced out. The flat phone, computer screen does do justice to the bounce of shine that this real photograph has.. 97 years old. Only disappointment is that the postage stamp has either fallen off or been removed. 🙂
