” Most Northerly Point of Mainland Britain “
6 words, for 6WS, on the sign here at Dunnet Head and it lighthouse. Looks tranquil, with great views over the Pentland Firth to Orkney…. all is calm. Not always that calm and sunny, far from it, but always beautiful and evocative a location.

It is also the start of the weekend, relax if you can.

Tonight is also the when here in the Uk we make the seasonal clock change – back one hour. But as always….

Love this place —- it was socked in with heavy fog when I visited — beautiful to see it with blue skies!

Yep…it can be a place of very mixed weather…. we were lucky on that trip, we spent 5 days staying near there and can brag that 4 of the 5 days were sunny and clear. We wont mention the 5th 🙂

Quite remote…

I guess it is. Dunnet Head is the thumb like chunk of Scotland that sticks out into the Pentland Firth…but the actual name for the headland where the Lighthouse (and Fog Horn) are located is actually called Easter Head… Remote but on a clear day the view towards the Orkneys and beyond is magical and demands exploration.

Such a beautiful place! We’re behind you a week – not turning clocks back until this weekend. Time to adjust and it’s not always easy.
