What a lovely “resting place.” And I would be interested to read the engravings on those old tombstones.

The church seems remote, but in times long gone it was a spiralling community known then and now as Kintail. The church itself dates to 11t century maybe earlier. But it has been involved in a violent part of Scotland History. The Jacobite Rebellion and one of its bloodiest battles…The Battle of Glen Sheil between Jacobite’s and Government Troops.. The Church was used as a hospital for wounded Jacobite’s. But reprisals occurred and Government forces set fire to the Church. Though it was rebuilt the congregations never returned in previous numbers and the church was closed and services transferred to another church. A little church but a piece of Scotland’s very bloody history.
