Crinan is a beautiful little village but also the start of the Crinan Canal. The canal was opened in1801. Only 9 miles long but opened up a major safe shorth cut for Fishing Vessels and small supply ships to and from the Hebrides, the North West Coast of Scotland and the City of Glasgow Apart from an enormous amount of time it provided a safe route avoiding the hazardous seas round Mull of Kintyre,.

There’s a memory! We were canalside with our son in a stroller, 35 years ago! xx
