The whole of 2026 has been a strange mix of weather. It has played many tricks on our gardens… some plants thrives, some were early others much later, and some never made it. But summer has been dry and very hot. So far three heatwaves and still counting.
Right now the gardens seem to be holding there own…but rain needed. Manual watering can only do so much. Now there is a thing… Me! wanting rain, after our wettest longest winter on record 🙂
Whatever your weather, and as always….

What garden treasures have managed to hold on are beautiful though! Some years we must water too if there’s not enough rain. We have a rain barrel at the end of one of our roof gutters that collects rain water. It’s so handy to have when conditions get dryer.

My water barrels, I have 2, both empty…and no rain of consequence on the horizon. Lots of water being used on the local wildfires so reservoir stocks being used up fast. It will end in floods more than likely.

Yikes, doesn’t sound like a good scenario. Hope you get some rain soon!
