I was woken last night by hail rattling against the bedroom window and the sound of trees blowing wildly in the wind…a wild night. But this morning the light frost soon disappeared and the dark clouds rolled back to give another autumn day of blue sky and sunshine…….
Maybe now we will start to loose the autumnal colours, certainly a good number of trees have now started to loose their leaves. The Silver Birch has done its best to be one of the last to succumb to the winds and cold but now sports the red tinged fronds atop its branches…..
Deeper into the woods it is distinctly more open with the morning sun reaching places it has failed to touch for several months….a wintery look by anyone’s account…
Perhaps we are being treated to the last of autumns golden glow and those carpets of rich coloured leaves. Just think only 26 days till we here in the northern hemisphere have the shortest day and longest night….then it is all up hill to spring again….I think we will give winter a miss!
The shadows have been long today and we have been followed by this fellow all morning.
If it is me, well I will gladly accept the profile – much slimmer and taller than the original!
