Another Spring First…..

Catkins-1

January 7th and now we have the first Catkins making what is a very early appearance.  It is a topsy turvy medley of the seasons.  New Fungi is forming on many of the fallen trees, like magic, virtually overnight……….

Fungi-2

Moses, lichen and ferns are thriving on the recent damp conditions and mild temperatures gradually covering this fallen and rotting Silver Birch trunk…….

Moss

Far from being what should be a winter woodland scene it is still a real mix of both autumn and spring and all the more wonderful for that.  I did mention once before that is will be great when they invent the camera that can bring you all the woodland scents along with the scenes…to-day it would have been well worth the sharing that invigorating woodland aroma…..better than any health spa!
