January 7th and now we have the first Catkins making what is a very early appearance. It is a topsy turvy medley of the seasons. New Fungi is forming on many of the fallen trees, like magic, virtually overnight……….
Moses, lichen and ferns are thriving on the recent damp conditions and mild temperatures gradually covering this fallen and rotting Silver Birch trunk…….
Far from being what should be a winter woodland scene it is still a real mix of both autumn and spring and all the more wonderful for that. I did mention once before that is will be great when they invent the camera that can bring you all the woodland scents along with the scenes…to-day it would have been well worth the sharing that invigorating woodland aroma…..better than any health spa!
