After a violent night with heavy rains and winds the sun has burst through as if all is well. Sadly for many folk they are waking to find flood waters in their homes and fallen trees bringing down power lines. We escaped the worst but none the less the rains have swollen the rivers and brooks near by. Kedleston Cascades on Markeaton Brook which is running dark with mud but still manages to looks dramatic as it falls from the weir.
Meanwhile the woods just look stark and cold, branches stretching skyward and only a few of the autumn leaves left to colour the woodland floor……
