I know some friends over in USA and Canada in the mountains regions are ‘enjoying’ the deepest snow falls of the winter, whilst over on the East side of North America the spring Blossom is flooding the parks and woodland and flooding Facebook pages with some great images. It all seems topsy turvy.
Over here in the U.K. the Blossom is well on the way and we will soon be promoting our own displays. What is helping is the current spell of Record Spring temperatures, 23rd of March and it feels like May….21c in some places is predicted. Blue skies and a sun so hot it seems as if it will split the paving stones. On our patio these dwarf Tulips have open out wide in the hope of donating their pollen to passing Bee’s……only problem no Bee’s.
In the shade of the woods clumps of Daffodils are adding a splash of colour to the shady areas and in the canopy of the Pines, new growth has started to push off last seasons cones.
Along the damp field edges, wild grasses that have managed to survive the frosts are now drying a nice golden colour and rustling in the breeze, a last fling at life before they two fall to be replaced by the new seasons growth……
And Talking of New Growth…here is a P.S to the Mothers Day Surprise post of the 19th
Yes….after 4 days this little fellow now has a name. This little bundle of contentment weighing 7lbs 4oz is to be called Ewan Anthony Oakes. I also hear by way of email requests that I should have mentioned colour of eyes! Well they are Blue and he is nearly as handsome as his Granddad.
