The formal planting in the outer walled garden at Calke Abbey is the appetiser before you pass through to the inner walled garden… a garden devoted to vegetables and fruit. We visit regularly over the year, catching the different seasons…. and whilst it is a familiar setting it is very different on each visit, even a couple of weeks can make a bigger difference. Much of the vegetables gardens productivity is due to the retention of the original gardeners layout , several centuries old.
A mix of flowers for cutting, all types of vegetables and fruit, an orangery with palms and exotics and glass house for vines… add a quirky potting shed just to complete this fabulous and rather unique setting.
Join us on yesterdays visit….. But please don’t frighten the Scarecrows

And when you leave… please shut the door as you go 🙂

As always…..
Please Remember ….
