Silent Sunday…….. A Gift from the Gods

Letterewe above Poolewe

I had climbed to the top of this pass the previous day.  It looks east towards Meall Mheinndh and Slioch part of a mountain range that looks down upon what is called the Letterewe Forest.  We had enjoyed a string of red early morning sunrises and this look like the perfect location to capture just such a sunrise.

So it was up very early the following morning and off up to the top of the pass again.  The signs were all promising, it was cool, the sky and horizon all clear. But as I trudged up the glen a wispy high level cloud started to appear from behind me from the west.

Was the early morning rise going to come to nothing, would the rising sun beat the cloud. Well it turned out to be a dead heat.  No red sun….but once it had cleared the distant mountain a diffused glow was the reward, and a few of ‘Gods Fingers’ to add to the joy of the morning.

Not the image I had planned (or should I say visualised) but a very different look…..
