Lighthouse Day….Perhaps we should!

Disc One

Today, on a USA Blog (http://wordpress.com/read/post/id/30975446/6732/)  I spotted that is  National Lighthouse Day in the States.  As far as I am aware here in the U.K. I do not recall that we commemorate a similar day for our Lighthouse Service….so it begs the question ‘why not’.  For centuries they have guarded our coasts.  Most of that time, and however remote the location, the lights were kept burning by dedicated Lighthouse Keepers.  Today they are automated but still demand the back up of an organisation to maintain the tradition of ‘keeping the lights burning’……where ever they are a Lighthouse is still a welcome sign for any seafarer.

Location: Neist Point Lighthouse, Isle of Skye, the Western Isles Scotland (HDR Image)………Just like most lighthouses a great photographic location.
