Rosebay Willowherb is casting its seed pods and the breeze, as can be seen in the image above, is distributing them far and wide leaving just the fire red stems to slowly dieback. A sure sign that life in the wild is moving on. Most folk class this magical plant as a weed, but to my mind it is one of the most attractive wildflowers we have. There are still many more summers days to look forward to but nature has away of reminding us just who is in charge……..
Fresh young leaves, brought down in the recent winds, mingle with leaves that have dried in the extremely hot weather we have been enjoying…add a large number of seeds and the forest floor does boast an autumnal look.
Thankfully the garden still excels in bring a spotlights of colour to the day….
