April 1st and the Pussy Willow is starting to burst….soon to be a mass of leaf. Until then we can enjoy the ‘fluffy’ buds and the globes of fresh yellow pollen.

now these isolated shots are high impact David are you selecting and removing or is this a bit of studio?

Nearly always outside, natural light with a piece of card or similar to make the background…occasionally if the subject is in the garden I will clip a piece and shoot in the conservatory but again natural light as above. Natural light from slightly behind always seems to work and much easier than setting up the studio flashes

As an aside. If you use a background card or similar it also acts as a windbreak and stops the plant swaying. I think I mentioned that I carry a folding Frisbee, it made of nylon and is a bit like the Lastolite reflectors only smaller….it was also free – a freebee Frisbee!!

ha ha – I have seen people set up this sort of set up in some of these Photo coaching blogs. I was trying to get a Monkey Tree to achieve some bokeh but it was blowing in the rather fresh breeze and my patience was failing
