Following quickly on the heals of the Daffodils and Tulips we have another Spring entry, that of the Snowflake…..well that is what we have always called them (though I think the ‘proper’ name is Leucojum – but what variety I do not know).
Now don’t confuse with their much earlier flowering cousins the Snowdrops. Snowflakes are very much a bigger species, standing some 30 to 40cm high on broad stiff stems, they carry heads of multi flowers. Like Snowdrops they are a season bulb that throws out its growth for a brief few weeks then sinks back to sleep till the next Spring.

Lovely flower, and thanks for the explanation…my flower and tree identification is fairly non existent…I never know what I’m looking at…But this is a beautiful delicate flower and very well photographed..!
