Dark skies were an ominous start for the day and the Silver Birch swayed in the wind with the leaves rustling and sounding much like an express train….a wind that was soon to send dark clouds full of foreboding scurrying across what soon became blue skies…….
It had to rain and that in turn left its mark in the garden. Dahlias in particular showed the damage first, the tips of the petals going brown and curled…
even so they are still colourful and quite proud of themselves….
The Water Lilies coped much better and whilst nearing the end of their season still provide spot lights of bold colour……
Whilst the summer has been a triumph this year it has thrown up a few surprises. The heat and the dry has for some plants been paradise and others have had rather a struggle at times. One bonus has been our Honeysuckle. Usually an early flowering bringer of colour to the Spring, it has now returned to grace the garden with a late second flush…..the only difference being that in the spring we had a beautiful scent to accompany the blooms but now in August there is no scent….
……but we best not complain and should count our blessings and remember that summer still has some time to run..
Thank you for even more colourful corners…..![]()
