I have been taken to task by fellow bloggers for appearing to want summer gone, then perhaps being to premature in talking about autumn. Here in the Northern hemisphere Autumn is still in theory some way away……or is it. We have been getting ‘tell tale’ signs for a week or so now. With the drop in temperatures and morning mist it does start to look as if the turn is on the way.
It could be that the hot dry spring and summer have over stimulated growth and now the leaves are just dry and tired.
We will have to wait and see….one thing is for sure we can do nothing to change the seasonal cycle.
And on top of all that the weather forecasters reckon, that here in middle England, there is a strong possibility of frost tomorrow when we wake….and it is not yet September!

Yes – it was as if one had gone to sleep during Summer for a few weeks and had woken up early Autumn! I’m in the South of England and noticed leaves dropping about 10 days to 2 weeks ago. Then last week the change in temperature was rapid: on Tuesday I was comfortable wearing a short sleeved Summer dress, and on Wednesday I had to raid the cooler season clothing boxes for warm layers! Still, it makes it all interesting!

Very true…I just hope folk don’t think that I am complaining – far from it. The constant change and unpredictability of our weather in the U.K. is what makes it all the more special even if we do in true British style moan when we get the extremes!

They don’t always get it right….may be the rain they also forecast might arrive early and kill the frost…..and it has been summer once again today 😊

That is one glorious (sycamore?) leaf! And is that what some of us like to call a “bonus bug,” or was what appears to be a harvestman (aka daddy longlegs) part of your photographic plan?
