That’s really spectacular, David! How far did you have to drive to find this rugged foreground?

Taken back in late September on a cruise to Northern Norway. 8 of us hired a guide and headed off in a minibus from Tromso. We drove for about 2 hours to an area in the Lyngen Alps (Lyngsalpan) and stopped by a fjord. Just before midnight thru to 1.30am the Aurora Borealis started to appear. Fantastic display then they vanished. After flasks of coffee had been consumed it was 2 hours back to the warmth of the boat and a short nights sleep. For visitors to the area a guide is highly recommended, they have the knowledge of best places and also a mobile phone network on the night to keep in contact with other guides to ensure no one misses out. Apart from the magical display it was also a fun night….something very different, and lots of memories 🙂

What a wonderful opportunity! I’ve been to Norway several times (all my ancestors are from there), but I’ve never had this kind of chance. Thanks for sharing it!
