A very Significant date… 19th JULY

A Happy Day at Kristiansund, Norway, a memory from 2019

Now, in 2021 the 19th July is a Very Significant date…. a Real Red Letter Day

It doesn’t seem like it, but 55 years ago, the last time England won the World Cup, another even more important event occurred.

At 12 noon, on a very sunny 19th July 1966, Jean and I were married.   Not sure where all the years in-between have gone. The tally for our Family Tree now numbers at a total of 15…..  and probably more to come!?

The time between then and now does seem to have flown by.  But as you can see from the picture below we haven’t changed one little bit.  You can also see that no expense was spared for the Wedding celebrations.

When we got married we knew life would be tough…. it was a very different world.  But we had our dreams, thankfully many, have been achieved. But also there have been many more events, events we would never have dreamt of, all have added, lets say, spice to our lives. But I repeat my earlier comment – 55 years where have they gone to?

We will have a small Celebration, but because of Covid, it will be a respectful celebration.

By a coincidence, July 19th 2021, has also been selected by our Prime Minister, Boris as “Freedom Day”, just who is he kidding?…. himself I think.  The world we live in is still deeply troubled by Covid, yet Covid Restrictions in England have, all but, been lifted.

Like many others we hope that soon, freedom will be just that free….. but maybe restraint is still needed for the benefit of all, particularly the younger generations.

Please Remember ….

Stay Safe …. Be Kind…. Look After Each Other

  1. Many congratulations. We celebrated 47 years on 13th July so it was interesting to compare costs. I suspect that the drinks bill nowadays would be significantly higher! May you have many more happy and healthy years together.

    1. Like everything else….. inflation on seems to make cost look rather low. But in 1966…. Farther in Law swallowed hard at the bill, and wasn’t short of a Bob or two. Mind you he was from Yorkshire 😁

  2. Fifty-five years of marriage is a major accomplishment nowadays. Congratulations on your anniversary and wishing you and your wife many more years together to come. My husband and I are about 10 years behind you and will celebrate our 44th this fall. I know what you mean by how sometimes it feels like so long ago yet just the other day. Hoping you can take a wonderful trip to celebrate sometime in the near future.
