There was a time when Chimneys for coal or wood fires was the essential on any house roof……. times change and the essential is the TV arial !
Mind you in the 17 &18 hundreds, when many of these the houses were built, I guess folk would huddle round a rectangular area in a room, watching the flames of the fire flickering. None of them could have imagined that one day, folk would sit around a rectangular box and watch events from around the world…. not to mention the telephone where you could speak to someone miles and miles away.
Worth remembering when we read or hear about some new “Hairbrained scheme” for the future …. it may well come true.
Wherever you are this Thursday, as always….

Isn’t that the truth? So many aspects that we thought were only futuristic notions are now reality.

I remember my dad just after we had a phone installed (that was some luxury back then) … As stood around we admired the new devise, wondering if it would ring, Dad said – one day you will be able to phone someone and be able to see them as well as talk to them. 🙂 🙂
