I am only a Sunflower….. but I am rather special.
At this time of the summer, we regularly get images of fields of sunflowers, their yellow heads stretching off into the distance. Easy to grow we are told, even school kids are encouraged to grow them at home with competitions to see who gets the tallest flower.
Try as we might we never have much success.
This year we bought some Lobelia bedding plants and tucked away in the seed tray was a shoot which Jean correctly identified as a sprouting sunflower.
It’s been transplanted several times, nurtured during this summers strange weather…… and wow, we now have a bold big yellow flower.
It may only be one flower….. but for us well worth bragging about 🙂
Weather across the globe seems strange and in places dangerous…. so as always….

Our birds have planted quite a few for us this year. We have 27 at the moment and one is about nine feet tall!

I paid for it by buying premium sunflower seed for them. It is a nice side effect though and I shall have plenty of seed to plant next year!
