I can see why—perfect afternoon lighting and the lure of abandoned buildings on a stark and isolated coastline.

I have always found those Cornish mines truly atmospheric

They are… but you have to admire both the ingenuity of the engineers and the bravery of the miners, tough conditions to wrestle with and genuinely ‘life or death’ decisions. Just as an after thought…. one of the chimneys behind the main buildings was an Arsenic processing ‘factory’. You can imagine the extra risks to the villagers and workers…… no H & S Executive in those days.

Engineering brilliance, and I don’t think the miners ha£ any choice…it was that or no money. And yes, I watched programme on TV not that long ago about the production of arsenic…no HSE, and scant thought for those workers….

Thank you Nia….. it is one of those places where the beauty if the location blends with industrial heritage and working hardship. I wonder if the miners ever really took time to appreciate the dramatic beauty of this coastline . xx

I don’t think so dear David, once I asked to some one who was working at the coasline with a beautiful view… He told me that because of works he didn’t see outside… Welcome, Thanks again, Love, nia
