Remembrance Sunday 12th November
From tiny isolated Scottish Kirks, just like this. With only a few names inscribed on its cross, you look around and can see, at the most only one croft, others are far way….. A lonely spot. Those named local Highland Lads, torn from their home roots, never to return but still remembered to this day. Worth reflecting in the 1914 era, very few, if any of those young men would have ever travelled more than say 60 miles from their homes, some may never have been out of their Glen
All over our country, in Villages , Towns and City, small or large, each will have its own memorial to the locals who were snatched way from their community. Simple Crosses, Wreaths, all of Red Poppies. Some flamboyant displays, some around the Mercat Cross or even flowing from a window.
Each one continuing the Remembrance of folk who were local to this, their own community. Forget the Minsters, the grand Cathedrals, this is where it is important to Remember
Nor is a great deal asked of us today. In its simplest, just do just what we are asked…..; At 11am stop and pause…. Two minutes of your time is all that is asked.
Sadly, respect no longer seems to apply. Last year in our Park, the Cathedral Clock rang the chimes for Eleven O’clock . I was the only one to stop in silent thought. Just two minutes…. Is it really too much to ask
Our World is more troubled than ever. Was this young mans sacrifice worth it

May be we can do little to change the world… but within our own families we can always try to….
Please Remember Everyone, Especially today….
Stay Safe …. Be Kind…. Look After Each Other

Two minutes – NEVER too much to ask. But I fear we have way too many ungrateful people out there. Beautiful post, David!
