Lambing Time…

Spring and new lambs are starting to appear in the fields.  This Herdwick Ewe was being a little more careful hiding as best she could.

We thought she was just hiding in the winter vegetation, strange for a Herdwick which usually just ignore human walkers. Then as we passed we heard the unmistakable cry of lambs, there beneath her were two treasures.

We walked past pretending not to notice…. peace returned to the valley just the cry of the lambs fading into the distance.

Spring this year is mixed, hot then cold anf sometimes wet, not the best conditions for new arrivals be they fur or feather.
