Is that all ?… did they miss a bit of the castle. Well no… This is Broadway Tower, I guess what we call in England a Folly.
This one was constructed, so we are told, by a wealthy Lady who lived on an estate in the far distance. She felt it would be nice to have a landmark, something to look at from her lounge windows, on the horizon and the easterly extremity of her estate. Named as the Broadway Tower, as it stands on the escarpment, above the Cotswold Town of the same name. One time a place of Retreat, one time the work base for an Artist and Craftsmen, now just a much visited Tourist attraction…. on a grand viewpoint, and if you climb to the top, an even better view….. all the courtesy of the whim and wealth of a Lady.
No matter if you are living in the real world or a fantasy world…always…

At least this folly, at times did more than just look pretty. William Morris,Rossetti and the Arts & Crafts Movement used it as a working holiday retreat for a number of years….. it is also one folly the Public can now explore. 🙂

That was a very interesting result of the lady’s whim. I can imagine tourists enjoy this place. I know I would.
