Lizard Point, Cornwall
If it is not a mountain top, it has to be a sea cliff walk… both preferably in good weather. And weather here on the Cornish Coast hasn’t always been as favourable than it was on this particular day.
Lizard Point is the most southerly part of the English Coast. The point is also surrounded by many rocky outcrops, that stretch out from the point, into the English Channel. Names like, Man of War, Enoch Rock, Barges Rocks and Vellan Drang, all creating hazards for shipping. Over the centuries a scene of many shipwrecks. Not surprising that a lighthouse was constructed and also a Lifeboat Station.
Hard to believe on a hot summers day, with a pleasant sea breeze, that it can have a violent weather sting.
Lizard Point it at the tip of the Lizard Peninsula, an ecologically important landscape but also offering many other cliff walks and sheltered coves.
