Farewell October

Farewell October….it has been a strange month and in consequence a very different autumn.  The Met. Office seem to agree, and whilst the official months statistics are still to be finalised they are reporting that we have enjoyed temperatures higher than the average and rain fall also higher than the average. But the sun also provided above average hours of delight.

Early morning by the Lake and it was sparkling once again, but now just a little of that missing autumnal colour had arrived……

But October ends with most of our deciduous trees still in green leaf.  True some have shed all their leaves in the wind but most still have a full head.  Search in the woods and you can now find more clues that autumn is here and I must agree that those clues are now becoming more obvious….

Autumns colours are now more pronounced and berries and fungi still abound….

It will be interesting to see what November has in store…will it be another ‘unusual’ month.

THE GLOVE SAGA (Season Two)

Regular followers of this Blog will know that last year I ‘discovered’  enough ‘lost’ Gloves to outfit a small town.  You will also recall that all the adult gloves which were the majority were all left handed gloves.  Of all the gloves found only two were children’s gloves and they were right hand gloves…..we may never know why!

Well the Glove Saga continues this season….but is there perhaps a change?  The first find is a child’s glove and surprise surprise, it is a left  glove for a change….is this the start of a switch or just an anomaly….stay tuned!…..
