This very old Beech could tell a few tales if only it could speak….but look closely and maybe it still can. I have no idea who either Pete and Sharon are, or for that matter, Jake and Christine! The only thing for sure is that these names were inscribed into the trunk many years ago. Was it two separate couples or just a happy group of four out for a day in the country? When were they at this very spot in the woods, Who were they, Where are they now and is that romantic moment still shared between them? We will never know and this tree isn’t telling even if it does know…..
The second day of the New Year and the weather has delivered a sunny, dry but cold day to enjoy….very different from the storms, wind and rain of recent days which, according to the Met Office, is set to return tomorrow. So we have a morning to be out enjoying this wonderful winters day in Derbyshire….
