The glory of autumn has all but gone..…The sycamore woods are now bare but not silent as the wind now rattles the bare branches together in, some time melodious at others just a cacophony of brittle noise. Nature no doubt pruning some of the weaker branches in the process……..STORMS are predicted!!

One mile is 1,6 kilometers. Storm warnings along your East coast and our West coast are up to 9-10 Beaufort, in some places even more with surges up to 120-130 kilometers per hour. Approx. 75-80 miles? Precautions made: all plants on the balcony are inside and the mailbox downstairs (appartment block) is emptied. In a way I am excited as this violent weather puts us back in our place: small, insignificant compared to the planet’s moods. And she has a faul mood today! Spring tide we call it when it blows from the North West and you will ceretainly remember february 1953. I had two brothers in military service sent down to our provice of Zeeland that was hardest hit by that one. Over 1800 people dead and thousands of cattle as well. Mind you, David, our sea defences recently did not pass the test anymore. Maintenance fails because of shortage of money, according to our right government. Living near the coast in the real low lands, I expect we could see even here small floodings. Hope all dykes will hold. Here as well as in England. My friend in Hunmanby lives on top of the cliff and far enough from it but expects quite oa lot will be taken by the sea. It will be awesome, as the Americans call it. 😉
