Changeable Weather…Very Changeable

Holme-Farm--22.2

Holme Farm, Calke, Derbyshire

I thought the above image taken over the weekend rather typified the changeability of the weather at this time of the year.  Low sunshine, bare trees, blue skies with a weather front moving in…..but also what you cannot see….a bitterly cold breeze.  Not long after this shot was taken the clouds were grey and we were ‘blessed’ with a heavy shower.  The Joys of Spring!

    1. I suppose we here in Middle England shouldn’t complain as we have had what is called a soft winter….so far no snow and very little frost. The rains and mild temperatures have kept things green and signs of spring are appearing everywhere.

  1. I’d be pleased to take some of the rain off you. By this time last year we’d had 2 floods and around 500ml rain (20 inches which is about normal) not sure what measurements you Brits use these days for rain. This year til today we have had 25ml total and in our little area of Australia all is in drought and dying.

    1. True some parts of the U.K. are still under water, it just hasn’t receded even though giant pumps have been brought in from Holland. TV this morning showed one family where the water came in to their house in mid December and yesterday was the first day the water level dropped below the doorstep. Not sure how I would manage in those dire circumstances with months of cleaning, drying then rebuilding ahead. As to measurement….well in theory we went metric years ago but even the Met Office seems to have difficulty in reporting in cm and often quotes inches….may be one day it will all be metric!!
