Red makes a change from the more usual colour of yellow that is associated with spring blooms. Our Cydona Japonica is for once covered with its rich red blossom. Each spring it is one of the first of our shrubs to blossom…..then we get a frost that in most years kills much of the fruiting flower heads. But this year has been kind to us and the plants, so we are hopeful that we may get more than just the odd Quince, in fact with fingers crossed there maybe enough to make some Quince Jelly. For that we will have to wait till September!
